Fair Trade enables producers to improve their livelihoods and communities. CHILDREN-Nepal that runs Suryamukhi Handicrafts is a registered member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) and Fair Trade Group Nepal (FTGN). We seek to benefit disadvantaged and marginalized women and deliver sustainable livelihoods by supporting and developing women’s handicraft skills. The practices of Suryamukhi Handicrafts are guided by the 10 Principles of Fair Trade. Women receive free skills training in sewing and embroidery at the CHILDREN-Nepal premises and are then hired as handicraft producers. In addition to receiving a fair income, the women benefit from emotional encouragement and support from staff and co-workers, which help increase their self-confidence.

We enable the women to do this by producing quality goods using environmentally friendly materials and methods.
